16 surfistas brasileiros disputam round 64 em Maresias

Sixteen Brazilian surfers are competing in the round of 64 of the Banco do Brasil São Sebastião Pro, part of the World Challenger Series, held in Maresias on the southern coast of São Sebastião.

The event features 64 surfers overall. In the women’s division, only two Brazilian athletes—Laura Raupp from Santa Catarina and local Sophia Medina—are in the round of 32. The men’s draw includes competitors from Ubatuba, São Sebastião and other regions, such as Weslley Dantas, Ryan Kainalo and Gabriel Klaussner of Ubatuba, and Samuel Pupo of São Sebastião, among others.

Brazil holds five positions within the top‑13 of the Challenger Series ranking: Weslley Dantas leads with 15,700 points, Ryan Kainalo is fifth with 10,995, Ian Gouveia sixth with 10,105, Deivid Silva eighth with 9,025 and Matheus Herdy eleventh with 8,065. At season’s end, the ten highest‑ranked men and six women will qualify for the elite Championship Tour in 2027, which already includes four regional surfers: Gabriel Medina, Miguel Pupo, Samuel Pupo and Filipe Toledo.

The competition highlights the strong presence of Litoral Norte athletes in international surf rankings and sets the stage for further qualification battles in the coming weeks.
